East Midlands Airport Byelaws

On entering the East Midlands Airport site, Byelaws specific to East Midlands Airport must be adhered to or the individual could face a fine or be removed from the site.

The Byelaws came into effect on 20 December 2001 after confirmation by the Secretary of State for Transport and can be found here.

Supplementary Notice to East Midlands International Airport Byelaws 2001

Members of the public do not have consent to enter or remain at East Midlands Airport for the purpose of carrying out a protest or taking part in any demonstration, procession or public assembly. For the avoidance of any doubt, any individual entering East Midlands Airport for the purposes of carrying out a protest or taking part in any demonstration, procession or public assembly has no licence to do so and is a trespasser.

Moreover, pursuant to Byelaw 3(14) of the East Midlands Airport Byelaws 2001, breach of which is a criminal offence, all persons intending to enter East Midlands Airport in order to undertake a protest or to take part in any demonstration, procession or public assembly are prohibited from doing so.

Injunction

On 5 July 2024 the High Court granted us an injunction, which prohibits anyone from entering, occupying or remaining on East Midlands Airport in connection with the Just Stop Oil campaign (or any other environmental campaign) without our permission.

Anyone breaching the injunction might be imprisoned for up to 2 years, fined and / or have their assets seized for contempt of court.
